Pari Nizhny Novgorod’s goalkeeper Nikita Medvedev has expressed strong displeasure after spotting banners supporting former head coach Alexander Shpilevsky during a recent match. The club dismissed Shpilevsky at the end of April, appointing Vadim Garanin as the new head coach.
“When I saw those banners, I nearly lost my mind. That’s not the kind of support I want to see. I’d rather have just two or three people who genuinely support us. I’ve been giving everything for this team for two years, and then I look at the stands and see those placards. What for? Guys, stay at home. That’s not how you support the team,” Medvedev was quoted as saying by matchtv.ru.
After 29 matches, Pari NN sits in 15th place with 22 points, firmly in the relegation zone of the Russian Premier League. On May 17, the team will face Rubin Kazan away in the final match of the season.
